Chapter 6 Reflection - Spencer
Chapter 6 focuses on the typographic message, which is how our culture reacts to a typographic messages. The chapter contains a lot of really relevant and informative information that describe why and how we react to certain things typographical messages.
I found this chapter the most introspective, and best thus far to reflect on. Before deciding to study graphic design and typography, I always took for granted how and why text was displayed. It’s strange to think of how seemingly every choice that a typographer makes is deliberate in order to successfully achieve getting their message across in the most valuable way.
What I took away most from this chapter was that whether or not somebody may “like” a design, it’s more about the message that the design is trying to portray. Modern typography gives designers numerous different ways of approaching a design solution, and how they choose to want to portray a specific message.
