Chapt. 4 reflection
In typography it is important to make things consistent for the viewer meaning the designer needs to choose wisely. There are different things to think about when making a design ledgitable. Ones that I never thought of before was the spacing between letters, when the letters were too close together it was more difficult for me to read the words. I found it very interesting how this chapter mentions how we distinguish the characteristics of letters that we recognize the letters by the upper halves and again when we look at a single characteristic we recognize it by the right half of the letter.
Choices of color really affect the legibility of color, when thinking about choosing colors for a design it makes sense to use colors that are more opposites than similar because it does affect the emotions of the viewer, when colors like violet and blue are put together it is hard to focus on the words because of the vibrations of color since its clashing. I know that if I were to look at a design that had clashing colors I probably would get dizzy and and the viewer would move on to something more pleasing for their eyes.
Another thing I found very interesting about color is how the designer has to think about how the ink is going to show on the print. They have to take into account what the texture/shine of the paper will be.
To be totally and completely honest I never knew the proper way to indent I would always just press tab never would have thought that there is much consideration goes into making the legibility of type consistent and pleasurable.
