Type Anatomy Howell

Bauhaus 93 is a strong sturdy typeface with a very playful quality. What makes Bauhaus strong yet playful is the very thick even strokes that form the curves of the letterforms. One of the most notable features of this typeface is that certain letterforms aren't completely enclosed. Another attribute that stands out is it's geometry that is based on circles and rectangles. Bauhaus 93 has a slightly high x-height that comes close to the cap height. The descenders of this typeface aren't very low.

Since Bauhaus 93 is circular and bold, it reminds me of a punch buggy. When I see the curves of the letterform it reminds of the humps of the car. The bold characteristic makes bauhaus stand out just as the punch buggy's heavy form.

Lucida Bright is a typeface that has a little flair making it slightly classier than the norm. The flair comes from the variation of stroke within the letterforms. A fairly high x-height makes Lucida Bright comfortable on the eyes and easy to read. Distinguishable features are the tittles, periods, commas, and question marks have square points.

It's slight elegance reminds me of something between business casual and semi formal. The variation of stoke width in Lucida Bright is like a blazer or sweater that adds formality to an outfit. Like business casual it has a common enough feel to look comfortable, but it can also stand out in a group that is completely casual.
